Last week the girls received in the mail a fun package of headbands and clips from the wonderful Committed 2 Creativity! This Etsy shop has not only headbands and bows for girls but adult jewelery as well!
We received these two headbands that have a spot in the front where you can add your clips. This is a great idea because it gives you the ability to coordinate with their outfits! The headbands are very stretchy which makes them easy to take on and off and comfortable for you little one’s.
These are the clips! Seriously, how cute are they? The girls have been fighting over the Minnie Mouse clip for a week!
Good morning all! I know it’s been a while since I have consistently posted. We were super busy enjoying our summer and all of its glory! How was your summer? Did you go on any vacations, or maybe a staycation? We went to Sesame Place in July and had an absolute blast which I will blog about next week! If you are within a few hours of Langhorne Pennsylvania and have toddlers I highly recommend taking a trip! Now that the warm weather is just about over and we will be indoors more I plan on posting more consistently. Fall is officially here and we are falling back into our routines!
During the summer I was able to complete my Still Birthday Doula certification and I am now a SBD Doula! I have to say that I am super proud of myself for this accomplishment. Having two toddlers and a Doula business is a tad time consuming so being able to accomplish a certification in less than six months was not easy. I also was able to attend two beautiful births which means I have met the requirements for my CAPPA certification! Yup, this chick right here will be dual certified soon!
The girls are doing great! McKenzie is turning two at the end of this week and we are having a Pinkalicious themed birthday party! I cannot believe she is going to be two. Seriously, why does it have to go by so fast? Thought I’d give you a quick teaser of what’s to come! These fabulous invitations were made by Stacey of the Paper Lantern. Please stop by her shop and check out all of her fabulous products!
Both girls are super busy as usual! Corinne started Ballet at a new school in September and could not be happier! Her new school is wonderful and she is already learning so much. She even has a uniform! To say that she looks beautiful in it is a huge understatement.
They are also loving gymnastics at their new gym! We decided to put them in a new gym for a few reasons. 1. McKenzie was able to start in a Mommy and Me class this year. 2. It’s less than a mile away from our house. 3. It is a much bigger and serious program and since I am determined to have one of them be the next Gabi we needed that! Lol!
Someone was so excited to go to her 1st class! This year she is over sitting on the sidelines and watching Corinne!
Stay tuned for many more posts including one later day showing off some super cute headbands!
Lately Corinne is all about having Movie Nights! Our usual routine is we lay out a blanket on the floor and prop the couch cushions against the couch and each girl gets a bowl of popcorn. Pretty standard right? Well last week while trolling Pinterest (of course,) I saw a cute idea to make Treat Necklaces! They were so simple it was almost silly! The hardest part was finding a variety of snacks that the girls like that are circular with a hole in the middle!
We used Fruit Loops, Cheerios, Chex Mix pretzels and Gummy Life Savers. Not the healthiest foods but that’s why they are called Treat Necklaces and not regular snack necklaces!
Clearly they were a hit! Try them out and send me a picture!
So riddle me this one. Why do people, most people, feel that it is okay or their right to educate MY children on matters of the World? For the life of me I can not figure this one out! I sure do not go around teaching other people’s children life lessons or schooling them on medical matters. So what made the woman in the fabric section of Walmart feel that it was appropriate to have a conversation with my girls about skin cancer? Yup! Skin cancer! Let me explain.
Today while the girls were napping I realized I really needed a few things from the store. Normally I would drive the extra distance and go to a Target a few towns over but it was already a little late and I did not have the time for the extra driving or the traffic we would get stuck in on the way home. So against my better judgement the girls and I headed to our local Walmart. Anyone else ever watch that old show Super Market Sweep? That is what I envisioned our trip to look like!
So we get to Walmart, I get the girls settled and we start tackling our list. 2nd to last on our list is 3 yards of pink fabric so Aubrey and I can add obnoxiously large bows to the back of our tank tops for our Run or Dye 5k this Saturday. So we pick out our fabric we want and the girls and I wait for what seems like forever for an Associate to come to the counter and cut out how much we want. While we are waiting a younger family is near us digging through the $5 DVD bin. Now they have their son in their cart who is around the same age as the girls so of course he has Corinne and McKenzie’s attention. Now the Fabric Associate comes over and begins cutting out our 3 yards of pink and talking to the girls about what she assumes I am making. Corinne, who is ignoring the Woman, asks me why the little boy does not have a shirt on. Perfectly acceptable question that I do not have an appropriate answer for! Before I can even fix my lips to say something the Fabric Woman takes it upon herself to answer for me. My Hand to God I am not making this up! This is what she says:
“Yeah, he don’t have a shirt on. That’s not good because he is going to get too much sunlight. And when you get too much sunlight you get skin cancer. And it makes you look old and wrinkly like me. Do you want to look old and wrinkly like me? No you don’t you’re beautiful, your Momma should have you in those Cheerios commercials. Do you want skin cancer? They say it’s bad, but you know how they are always making things up so you’ll by things. Skin Cancer aint that bad.”
I really don’t even know where to begin! It was just one long ramble!!! Who does that? 1st of all I don’t think the sun exposure inside of Walmart is going to wrinkle this poor Toddlers skin! 2nd Corinne did not ask her why he didn’t have a shirt on she asked me! And 3rd if she really felt compelled to answer my daughter’s question a simple “His Mommy must have forgotten his shirt in the car” would have been more than enough! And lastly, “skin cancer aint that bad” really?
This picture has nothing to do with our trip but it’s just so darn cute I had to add it!
Where have we been you may be asking? Well let’s see…
We’ve been playing in our fabulous new kiddie pool
Making some fun crafts including Super Hero Capes!
Having a picnic lunch in honor of National Teddy Bear Picnic Day!
Lots of movie nights
Our 1st trip to the movie theater!
Tons of ballerina dancing in our 1st Dance Recital!
Getting our faces painted,
Trying some new recipes
And since it’s summer eating lots of ice cream!
We have been having a blast! We are enjoying our summer to the fullest and making sure we fill it with smiles, laughter and food! Lol I am going to try and get a few posts in soon. I can’t wait to you all about my super exciting accomplishment, my latest birth I attended, Corinne’s third birthday, Corinne’s recital, and how much McKenzie has turned into a little woman!
It is around 1pm Friday afternoon. I am declaring here and now that I will have my SBD packet 100% complete and emailed to the Powers that be by Sunday evening the latest! I really want to get this done and have that wonderful feeling of accomplishment! And… I want to update my website and business cards so I can get them out to my local hospitals, medical practices, and counseling centers. So I am asking all of you to send all of your positive thoughts and motivation my way to help keep me on track!
I am squealing with excitement over here! I am so unbelievably honored to announce that I will be hosting a Bereavement Workshop for Birth Professionals. Here is a description of the workshop coming in October!
Birthworkers are entrusted to companion clients during the most intense, wonderful and joyous experience of their lives! But when a pregnancy does not go as expected and ends in miscarriage or stillbirth or a difficult or fatal diagnoses is received, how can we enter into that space in a way that is respectful, empowering, and supportive? What essential knowledge and heart-centered wisdom do we need when assisting a client through a pregnancy loss? In this workshop, filled with practical information and hands-on activities, Angie guides your community birthworkers through the ‘Ten Essential Wisdoms for Pregnancy Loss”. (ICEA accreditation pending).
If you are an aspiring doula, birth doula, postpartum doula, monitrice, midwife or nurse, this workshop is right for you.
Ok so this may go down as one of my best projects yet with the Girls! Today we made Super Hero Capes out of old t-shirts and decorated them with puffy paint! I saw the idea on Pinterest and did a very modified version which meant I didn’t have to sew at all!
After the paint dried the girls put their capes on and immediately transformed into Super Go Girls! The girls must have run laps around the downstairs for at least an hour! Corinne and McKenzie are both in love with them and are sleeping with them in their beds tonight!
We recently celebrated Corinne’s 3rd Birthday with a Music themed party. This year we decided to have a party for her friends and a separate small get together with family at our house. Not sure about you but this whole Birthday party thing is getting out of control and we chose to scale back this year and I am so happy! Corinne, McKenzie and I have been taking weekly Music Together classes and to say they are in love with this class is a huge understatement! They are constantly walking around singing the songs and making music throughout our house! So when the idea of having a Music themed party came up it seemed like the perfect fit!
We started her party off with a 30 minute music class taught by the wonderful Leslie Pratt of Soulshine Arts Ct. I give her a lot of credit, she ran a class with 18 children under the age of 5 and 13 adults and rocked it!
After our music class we all headed into a separate room and enjoyed some great music, snacks and a craft. Since it was a party full of little ones we did a snack bar instead of a meal since we all know how much they would rather snack! For a craft we made instruments out of plastic water bottles and some easy fillers. The playlist was a mix of Motown, Taylor Swift, Justin Beiber and Fresh Beat Band!
All in all Corinne and her friends had a blast! Now get ready for the flood of pictures coming your way!
Passes for all of the Rockstars!
Can we talk about this gorgeous dress? It’s one of those dresses that as soon as you put in you start twirling and dancing with a smile on your face!
Amidst all of the birthday party preparations I managed to squeeze in a prenatal consultation with a Labor Doula client! I am super excited for this birth since she is a friend of mine and those are my favorite clients! Oh…and the fact that she will be delivering at a Birthing Center with a Midwife is a huge added plus! Her EDD is a few weeks after all of our craziness going on here settles down so it is great timing! I’ll keep everyone posted!
