Committed 2 Creativity

Last week the girls received in the mail a fun package of headbands and clips from the wonderful Committed 2 Creativity!  This Etsy shop has not only headbands and bows for girls  but adult jewelery as well!

We received these two headbands that have a spot in the front where you can add your clips.  This is a great idea because it gives you the ability to coordinate with their outfits!  The headbands are very stretchy which makes them easy to take on and off and comfortable for you little one’s.

DSCN4787  These are the clips!  Seriously, how cute are they?  The girls have been fighting over the Minnie Mouse clip for a week!

Falling back in

Good morning all!  I know it’s been a while since I have consistently posted.  We were super busy enjoying our summer and all of its glory!  How was your summer?  Did you go on any vacations, or maybe a staycation? We went to Sesame Place in July and had an absolute blast which I will blog about next week! If you are within a few hours of Langhorne Pennsylvania and have toddlers I highly recommend taking a trip!  Now that the warm weather is just about over and we will be indoors more I plan on posting more consistently.  Fall is officially here and we are falling back into our routines!

During the summer I was able to complete my Still Birthday Doula certification and I am now a SBD Doula!  I have to say that I am super proud of myself for this accomplishment.  Having two toddlers and a Doula business is a tad time consuming so being able to accomplish a certification in less than six months was not easy.  I also was able to attend two beautiful births which means I have met the requirements for my CAPPA certification!  Yup, this chick right here will be dual certified soon!

The girls are doing great!  McKenzie is turning two at the end of this week and we are having a Pinkalicious themed birthday party!  I cannot believe she is going to be two.  Seriously, why does it have to go by so fast?  Thought I’d give you a quick teaser of what’s to come!  These fabulous invitations were made by Stacey of the Paper Lantern.  Please stop by her shop and check out all of her fabulous products!

Both girls are super busy as usual!  Corinne started Ballet at a new school in September and could not be happier!  Her new school is wonderful and she is already learning so much.  She even has a uniform!  To say that she looks beautiful in it is a huge understatement.

They are also loving gymnastics at their new gym!  We decided to put them in a new gym for a few reasons.  1.  McKenzie was able to start in a Mommy and Me class this year.  2.  It’s less than a mile away from our house.  3.  It is a much bigger and serious program and since I am determined to have one of them be the next Gabi we needed that!  Lol!

1378178_10201451501681413_158900452_nSomeone was so excited to go to her 1st class!  This year she is over sitting on the sidelines and watching Corinne!

Stay tuned for many more posts including one later day showing off some super cute headbands!

Adventures in Walmart

So riddle me this one.  Why do people, most people, feel that it is okay or their right to educate MY children on matters of the World?  For the life of me I can not figure this one out!  I sure do not go around teaching other people’s children life lessons or schooling them on medical matters.  So what made the woman in the fabric section of Walmart feel that it was appropriate to have a conversation with my girls about skin cancer?  Yup!  Skin cancer!  Let me explain.

Today while the girls were napping I realized I really needed a few things from the store.  Normally I would drive the extra distance and go to a Target a few towns over but it was already a little late and I did not have the time for the extra driving or the traffic we would get stuck in on the way home.  So against my better judgement the girls and I headed to our local Walmart.  Anyone else ever watch that old show Super Market Sweep?  That is what I envisioned our trip to look like!

So we get to Walmart, I get the girls settled and we start tackling our list.  2nd to last on our list is 3 yards of pink fabric so Aubrey and I can add obnoxiously large bows to the back of our tank tops for our Run or Dye 5k this Saturday.  So we pick out our fabric we want and the girls and I wait for what seems like forever for an Associate to come to the counter and cut out how much we want.  While we are waiting a younger family is near us digging through the $5 DVD bin.  Now they have their son in their cart who is around the same age as the girls so of course he has Corinne and McKenzie’s attention.  Now the Fabric Associate comes over and begins cutting out our 3 yards of pink and talking to the girls about what she assumes I am making.  Corinne, who is ignoring the Woman, asks me why the little boy does not have a shirt on.  Perfectly acceptable question that I do not have an appropriate answer for!  Before I can even fix my lips to say something the Fabric Woman takes it upon herself to answer for me.  My Hand to God I am not making this up!  This is what she says:

“Yeah, he don’t have a shirt on.  That’s not good because he is going to get too much sunlight.  And when you get too much sunlight you get skin cancer.  And it makes you look old and wrinkly like me.  Do you want to look old and wrinkly like me?  No you don’t you’re beautiful, your Momma should have you in those Cheerios commercials.  Do you want skin cancer?  They say it’s bad, but you know how they are always making things up so you’ll by things.  Skin Cancer aint that bad.”

I really don’t even know where to begin!  It was just one long ramble!!!  Who does that?  1st of all I don’t think the sun exposure inside of Walmart is going to wrinkle this poor Toddlers skin!  2nd Corinne did not ask her why he didn’t have a shirt on she asked me!  And 3rd if she really felt compelled to answer my daughter’s question a simple “His Mommy must have forgotten his shirt in the car”  would have been more than enough!  And lastly, “skin cancer aint that bad”  really?

This picture has nothing to do with our trip but it’s just so darn cute I had to add it!

Almost Done!

ImageIt is around 1pm Friday afternoon.  I am declaring here and now that I will have my SBD packet 100% complete and emailed to the Powers that be by Sunday evening the latest!  I really want to get this done and have that wonderful feeling of accomplishment!  And… I want to update my website and business cards so I can get them out to my local hospitals, medical practices, and counseling centers.  So I am asking all of you to send all of your positive thoughts and motivation my way to help keep me on track!

Super Hero Capes

Ok so this may go down as one of my best projects yet with the Girls!  Today we made Super Hero Capes out of old t-shirts and decorated them with puffy paint!  I saw the idea on Pinterest and did a very modified version which meant I didn’t have to sew at all!

After the paint dried the girls put their capes on and immediately transformed into Super Go Girls!  The girls must have run laps around the downstairs for at least an hour!  Corinne and McKenzie are both in love with them and are sleeping with them in their beds tonight!

3rd Birthday Festivities

We recently celebrated Corinne’s 3rd Birthday with a Music themed party.  This year we decided to have a party for her friends and a separate small get together with family at our house.  Not sure about you but this whole Birthday party thing is getting out of control and we chose to scale back this year and I am so happy!  Corinne, McKenzie and I have been taking weekly Music Together classes and to say they are in love with this class is a huge understatement!  They are constantly walking around singing the songs and making music throughout our house!  So when the idea of having a Music themed party came up it seemed like the perfect fit!

We started her party off with a 30 minute music class taught by the wonderful Leslie Pratt of Soulshine Arts Ct.  I give her a lot of credit, she ran a class with 18 children under the age of 5 and 13 adults and rocked it!

After our music class we all headed into a separate room and enjoyed some great music, snacks and a craft.  Since it was a party full of little ones we did a snack bar instead of a meal since we all know how much they would rather snack!  For a craft we made instruments out of plastic water bottles and some easy fillers.  The playlist was a mix of Motown, Taylor Swift, Justin Beiber and Fresh Beat Band!

All in all Corinne and her friends had a blast!  Now get ready for the flood of pictures coming your way!

Woot Woot!

Amidst all of the birthday party preparations I managed to squeeze in a prenatal consultation with a Labor Doula client!  I am super excited for this birth since she is a friend of mine and those are my favorite clients!  Oh…and the fact that she will be delivering at a Birthing Center with a Midwife is a huge added plus!  Her EDD is a few weeks after all of our craziness going on here settles down so it is great timing!  I’ll keep everyone posted!

This is why

This picture right here sums it all up.  This is why I (we) do it every day.  Why I haven’t had a full nights sleep in over three years.  Why after all of the long days of refereeing, changing diapers, cleaning up art projects and doing laundry I still have a smile on my face.  Watching them together and seeing the love they have for one another genuinely warms my heart.  At almost 3 and 19 months these girls put smiles onto others faces, they make bad days better and long days bearable.  They are amazing little individuals who have beautiful hearts and I am so proud to call them my daughters.

Here it goes

So I know it’s been 3 days since I promised to tell my 2nd Epic Mommy Failure Moment but… Oh boy did things head In a crazy direction! When I wrote my last post on Thursday it was after we had attempted to take the girls to Coco Key Waterpark earlier that day. We purchased tickets via Groupon about 2 months ago and at that time I had looked at the park hours which said it opened at 10am. Well, unlike my usual super planning self, I didn’t recheck the website and we showed up for 10. Let me stop for a second and give you a little more back story.

On Wednesday evening we told the girls that tomorrow was the say we were finally going. As expected they were so excited! We went upstairs and picked out their bathing suits and towels am hung them in their rooms! Of course Corinne had to call Ha Cha Cha (my Mother) and tell her the exciting news.  The next morning when I went into Corinne’s room we found this:

375024_10200656230160122_222466313_nYup!  She slept in her bathing suit all night!  Notice her Dora panties poking out, love this Chick!  We spent all morning promising Corinne that we were going soon and that we had to wait for the park to open.  Well…we get to the park, lights are off and doors are locked!  Yup!  The sign in the lobby (only visible by pressing my whole face up against the glass door) says they open at 1pm!!!  So here we are, all 4 of us in our suits with our big bag of towels and snacks standing on the sidewalk in shock.  This is when I felt like the Worse Mom ever!!!  How could I not have rechecked the website?  It honestly never even dawned on me which is very unlike me.  I looked down at Corinne realizing that I now had to somehow get her back in the car and wanted to cry!  We explained to Corinne the obvious, the park was not open yet, and bribed her with a Dunkin Donuts bagel and a promise that we would be back very soon.  Needless to say she was not very happy with us but she took it pretty well for an almost 3 year old.

Well from here things turned even worse and it was all out of my control!  We let Corinne skip a nap, woke McKenzie up early from her nap and went back to the park at 2pm.  Nope!  Still not open, the sign was wrong!!!!  Honestly, I really think Corinne thought we were using this as payback for all of her tantrums at this point!  So we get back in the car, go home again with the promises that the park would open soon and we would go back.  Fast-forward 2 hours and we get back into the car and drive to the water park.  Thankfully the waterpark is only 1 exit from our house or this would be a very different story.  Now it is a huge thunder storm and pouring rain!  We pull into waterpark relieved to see the lights on and the parking lot full of cars.  Phew!  So we pile out (for the 3rd time) and run inside.  We join a large crowd of parents and over excited children waiting in line and I start wondering why we are in a line that is not moving and no one is going inside?  Yup!  They are temporarily closed because there is lightning within 10 miles, company policy!  I swear I am not making this up!

This is the girls on the wrong side of the glass!  Watching all of the teenage lifeguards running around in the waterpark and truly convinced that we are intentionally messing with them!

After about 45 minutes of waiting and watching radar we left.  Locally there were severe thunderstorm warnings until 7:30pm so there was not going to be any swimming that day.

These faces say it all!

After three failed attempts we did not go to Coco Key Waterpark that day.  But we were able to bring them the following day and guess what?  They didn’t even like it!  Figures right?

In their defense it was pretty cold in there!  And then there is this big bucket that fills with water and tips over pounding you with water should you be within it’s range.  Now for the older kids it’s a blast!  But to a toddler it knocks them to the ground if you do not hold them tightly and scares the crap out of them.  The buckets dumps like every 3 minutes or so and everyone spends the majority of the time worrying about when it’s coming.  Well we can’t say we didn’t try, and try try again right?
